Take me to the tropics

You’ve gotta hand it to the 80s, they never shine away from a bold pattern, and we love them for it.

This tropical print matching set is incredibly bold, but also looks incredibly comfortable. The fabric looks soft and stretchy, and while the model is gathering the shirt to the side in the reference photo from Vogue, it seems like the top is probably structured more like a t-shirt. But that means options more for styling: like tucking in, opting for a French tuck, knotting the shirt to the side like the model demonstrates, or simply letting the shirt fall over the shorts.

The photo itself didn’t show shoes with the outfit but I chose to include the strappy high-heeled sandals that were in the full width magazine spread since they matched the vibrant gold in the pattern and elevated an otherwise casual outfit.

The pattern itself features large palm leaves in bold purples, fuchsias, and yellows. Really any tropical pattern would hit the spot to recreate this look and there are plenty to choose from on the market these days!
